NEW ORLEANS WINE & FOOD EXPERIENCE ANNOUNCES 2008 FLEUR DE LIS CULINARY AWARD WINNERS

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA — The New Orleans Wine & Food Experience announces the 2008 Fleur de Lis Culinary Award Winners. Over 75 restaurants participated in this year’s Grand Tastings held on Friday, May 23, 2008 and Saturday May 24, 2008 in the Louisiana Superdome. A distinguished panel of culinary journalists judged each dish. And the winners are….

FRIDAY:
Best of Show: Melange at the Ritz-Carlton – Cajun Spiced Sesame
Crusted Tuna Loin
Gold: Mr. B’s Bistro – Pan-Seared Jumbo Scallop with Foie Gras Buttern
Silver: Palace Cafe – Macadamia Crusted Scallops with a coconut,
lemongrass and New Orleans Rum Emulsion
Bronze: Red Fish Grill – Crawfish, Corn and Avocado Salad
Best of Dessert: Marriott’s 5Fifty5 – Creme Brulee

SATURDAY:
Best of Show: The Rib Room at the Royal Orleans – Gulf Fish with Creole Tomatoes
Gold: Semolina’s Bistro Italiano – Tuna Ahi Italiano
Silver: Zoe Bistrot at the W Hotel – Roasted Duck served with Port Poached Pear Sauce
Bronze: Vega Tapas Cafe – Empanadilla de Cochinillo
Best of Dessert: Nola Restaurant – Glazed Root Beer Pound Cake

Proceeds from the 2007 event benefited the Louisiana Restaurant Association’s School-to-Career Program, The University of New Orleans School of Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism, The Chef John Folse Culinary Institute, Delgado Community College Culinary Arts Program, New Orleans Firefighter’s Fund, The Deuce McAllister’s Catch 22 Foundation, The Broadmoor Improvement Association, Inc, and the Emeril Lagasse Foundation.
